Apple iOS 17.2.1 battery life test: iPhone 11 increased by 6.7%

Apple pushed the iOS 17.2.1 update (build number: 21C66) to iPhone users on December 20, focusing on fixing the problem of excessive power consumption in certain scenarios. So how much battery life improvement does this repair bring? YouTube channel iAppleBytes recently released a video comparing it through actual testing.

The test steps attached as follows:

Before running the test, all test iPhones had their brightness set to 25%, auto-brightness disabled, the same settings maintained, and connected to the same access point.

Then running the GeekBench 4 test on full power dropped from 100% to 0% of the time.

According to the test results:

 iPhone SE (2020) battery life 3 hours 20 minutes

 iPhone XR has a battery life of 4 hours and 35 minutes

 iPhone 11 has 5 hours and 14 minutes of battery life

 iPhone 12 has 5 hours and 44 minutes of battery life

 iPhone 13 battery life is 6 hours and 58 minutes

The test results are as follows:

Judging from the running score results, only the iPhone 11 has improved battery life after upgrading to iOS 17.2.1. The score has been upgraded from 2993 points (iOS 17.2) to 3129 points, and the battery life has increased by 4.5%. After battery health adjustment, the iPhone 11’s score has increased from 2993 points (iOS 17.2) to 3129 points. The score was upgraded from 3024 to 3226, and the battery life increased by 6.7%.

The battery life of other iPhone models has declined. Among them, the iPhone 13’s battery life dropped from 4460 points (iOS 17.2) to 4180 points, a 6.3% decrease in battery life; after battery health adjustment, the iPhone 13’s battery life score dropped from 4745 points to 4447 points, a 6.3% decrease in battery life.
