Apple iOS 17.0.3 released: fixes an issue that causes iPhones to run hotter

Apple pushed the iOS 17.0.3 update (internal version number: 21A360) to iPhone users today. This update comes 12 days after the last release.

Apple iOS

It should be noted that due to caching issues with the configuration of Apple’s regional node servers, there may be a slight delay in detecting upgrades in some places, usually within half an hour, not too long.

The official update log with the following description: “This update provides important bug fixes and security updates, and resolves an issue that may cause the iPhone to run hotter than expected.”

Apple did not provide any specific details about the bug it discovered, but it said it would not degrade the performance of the A17 Pro chip through a software update. Apple has also said that the iPhone 15 Pro’s titanium frame is not the culprit and that the overheating issue may not be the result of a hardware flaw.

Apple previously said in a statement that some recent updates to third-party apps had overloaded the system and caused overheating issues. The statement noted that some of these apps include Instagram, Uber and the racing game Asphalt 9 Legends and that Apple is working with the developers of these apps to resolve the issue. Instagram has rolled out a fix as part of an app update released on Wednesday, the statement added.

Apple says iPhone 15 Pro models may run warmer than expected during the first few days after installing or restoring the device due to increased background activity. This is normal for newer iPhones and is temporary.
