Apple iOS 16 Developer Preview Beta 7 Released

Apple today pushed the iOS 16 Developer Preview Beta 7 update (internal version number: 20A5356a) to iPhone users, 8 days after the last release. This time, iPadOS 16 Developer Preview Beta 7 was not released simultaneously, but directly jumped to iPadOS 16.1 Developer Preview Beta.

Apple has introduced a new lock screen design for iOS 16. Whether it’s widgets, notification designs or fonts and colors, you can personalize it with a high degree of freedom, and it will also support multiple lock screens.

The Focus mode is easier to adjust than before and you can weed out content you don’t like directly in the app. With the Messages app, you can now edit or withdraw sent content or mark messages as unread, and it also supports SharePlay, very similar to FaceTime.

The Mail app has improved search tools and also supports actions such as retractions. You can even set a reminder to check your email if you don’t receive a reply.

Apple is also working on replacing passwords with Passkeys to sign in to accounts, a more secure form of biometrics.

The iCloud Photo Library helps users easily share photos with other family members, and there’s support for real-time text/subtitle display in videos. Also, it has an interesting new feature where you can extract the subject from the background (with the help of Visual Lookup).

Elsewhere, dictation has also been improved, Maps now supports multi-stop directions, Apple offers Apple Pay Later for layaway payments, and the Family App gets a new look.

For iPadOS, Apple also added Stage Manager to bring Mac-like multitasking, though it’s limited to the M1 iPad. iPadOS version 16.1 will be released directly, Apple confirmed. iPadOS 16.1 Developer Preview Beta Released, iPadOS 16 Officially Cancelled” Apple iOS Overhaul!

The beta version of iOS 16 has added a battery percentage display to the iPhone status bar, including a new option to turn off the battery percentage in the iPhone status bar with the bangs screen in low battery mode. New sound settings have also been introduced so you can better find your Apple Watch or locate your iPhone by sound.
