Developer Ricky Mondello recently found that after installing the new macOS Sonoma update, users can use Apple’s password manager on Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and other browsers.
After running an update to the latest beta version of the macOS Sonoma update, Mondello discovered that it is possible to use iCloud Keychain on non-Safari browsers to auto-populate passwords and CAPTCHAs and that these third-party browsers also support saving these new passwords.
Apple also for macOS Sonoma users, in the Chrome Web Store and Edge Web Store uploaded the “iCloud Passwords” extension program,
The following overview:
- iCloud Passwords lets you populate a password from your iCloud keychain when you sign in to a website in Chrome.
- iCloud Passwords is a Chrome extension for Windows users that allows you to use the same Safari browser-strength password you created on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac when accessing websites in Chrome on a Windows PC.
- iCloud Passwords also saves any new passwords you create in Chrome to your iCloud keychain, making them available on your Apple device.
