In the latest market research briefing, Ming-Chi Kuo of Tianfeng Securities predicted that in 2024, the two fastest-growing brands in the world in terms of shipments of smartphones equipped with periscope cameras will be Apple and Huawei.
Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple plans to also equip the iPhone 16 Pro with a quadruple reflective prism design to be launched next year. It is estimated that shipments of iPhones equipped with a quadruple reflective prism design will increase by 160% year-on-year next year.
Ming-Chi Kuo also believes that Huawei’s P70, P70 Pro and P70 Art phones launched in the first half of 2024 will also be equipped with periscope cameras, and due to the use of its own Kirin chips, the P70 series shipments are expected to increase by 100% year-on-year in 2024.
The main manufacturer of periscope cameras for Apple and Huawei’s phones next year is Largan Light, which is expected to account for 85-90% of Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro series; and 50-60% of Huawei’s phones.
It is also learned from Ming-Chi Kuo’s briefing that the production yield rate of Largan’s Apple orders has improved significantly since 4Q23 and has begun to contribute to profits, and the overall periscope orders in 2024 will increase significantly by about 130%, so it will win in 2024. Profits are expected to exceed market consensus.
