According to the latest list published by the United States Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple has obtained two related technology patents. The two patents describe monitoring changes in muscle movement in all parts of the body to more accurately construct your fitness profile.
One of the patents, titled “Posture Transformation Detection and Classification Using Associated Biomechanical Models,” was filed in September 2021 and consists of 17 pages with a total of 8,000 English words.
It is learned from the patent that Apple wants to accurately detect the user’s sitting and standing posture and monitor the user’s body posture. The patent also mentions some clear examples, such as when the user wears the headset, it can calculate the body’s position, predict your movement towards it, and remind the user to pay attention to obstacles.
Another patent is called “Predicting whole-body posture through the features of multiple wearable devices”, which mainly uses various digital such as smartwatches and headphones to determine the user’s posture. Using multiple cameras and inertial sensors placed at different locations on the user’s body, combined with the depth data of the whole body, a more accurate 3D skeletal model can be generated.
The patents have a variety of application scenarios, such as detecting whether someone has fallen, and properly teaching fitness, sports skills, and dance activities, among others.
