According to the MacRumors website, after the release of iOS 17.0.3, Apple has closed the verification channels for iOS 16.6.1, iOS 17 and iOS 17.0.1, which means that it has been upgraded to the new version of the system users can no longer downgrade to a previous version.
Apple released an iOS 17.0.3 update (build number: 21A360) early this morning to fix “an issue that may cause iPhone to run hotter than expected.”
As previously reported, Apple did not provide any specific details about the bug it discovered, but it said it would not reduce the performance of the A17 Pro chip through software updates. Apple has also said that the iPhone 15 Pro’s titanium frame is not the culprit and that the overheating issue may not be the result of a hardware flaw.
iOS 16.6.1 was released on September 8 and mainly fixed a security vulnerability that Apple said there was evidence that it had been exploited by hackers.
iOS 17 was released on September 19. Apple brings updates to “Phone”, “Messages” and FaceTime calls; “Standby Display” brings a full-screen experience when placing the iPhone horizontally while charging; and enhances AirDrop and keyboard functions. In addition, iOS 17 also updates widgets, Safari, Music, AirPlay, and more.
iOS 17.0.1 was released on September 22, and Apple provided bug fixes and important security updates for iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models.
It is worth mentioning that Apple has not closed the verification channel for iOS 17.0.2 yet, providing another option for users who have upgraded to iOS 17.0.3.
