Apple released its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings on Thursday, with another record revenue. However, iPhone revenue for the quarter fell slightly short of market expectations. It’s important to note that iPhone revenue for the quarter included just over a week of iPhone 14 and 14 Pro phone sales. Even so, Apple’s iPhone revenue was up nearly 10 percent year-over-year and overall revenue was up 8 percent.
In an interview, Cook talked about the challenges the company faces, such as how to keep up with market demand for the Phone 14 Pro line. “We’re currently constrained in the availability of iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, and have been since day one of our launches so obviously we’re fighting for supply and trying to get as much supply as we can to address the demand. “
In addition, Cook said that another major factor affecting Apple’s fiscal fourth-quarter results was currency exchange rates. “Foreign exchange had an unfavorable impact of over 600 basis points in the quarter. So, the impact was significant. Without the unfavorable impact on exchange rates, we would have achieved double-digit growth.” He said.
