Apple Beats Studio Buds+ released: transparent version available for RMB 1349

The Beats Studio Buds + headphones are an upgrade from the first generation of Beats Studio Buds released two years ago, with more powerful active noise cancellation and pass-through modes, longer battery life and more. mode, longer battery life, and more. Most notably, the headphones are also available in a transparent version, allowing users to see the inner workings of the headphones.

The biggest changes to the Beats Studio Buds+ are improvements to active noise cancellation and pass-through mode. beats says the Beats Studio Buds + have 1.6x and 2x better active noise cancellation and pass-through mode performance, respectively, compared to the first generation. beats says this is due to an updated design with a 3x larger microphone and new pass-through technology. The upgraded microphone system also helps improve call quality, reduce background noise, and enhance voice clarity.

Another major improvement is the battery life of the Beats Studio Buds +. Beats says users can get up to 9 hours of battery life from the Beats Studio Buds +, and up to 36 hours total with the USB-C charging case. However, these figures are with active noise cancellation and pass-through mode turned off. If these features are turned on, battery life in real-world use will be significantly lower. In comparison, the Beats Studio Buds provide 8 hours of battery life with active noise cancellation and pass-through mode turned off.

However, Beats doesn’t address the biggest limitation of the first generation. Instead of using Apple’s H2 audio chip, the headphones use a chip designed by Beats itself. While this provides better compatibility with Android devices, it also means that Apple users won’t be able to enjoy some of the key features offered by AirPods or even other Beats products that use Apple’s proprietary chip. For example, the Beats Studio Buds + do not support auto-detection of wear status, meaning they will not automatically play or pause playback when the headphones are removed or put on. The new headphones also do not support automatic device switching and do not sync paired devices via iCloud, requiring a manual connection on each new device. Android users, meanwhile, can enjoy more features, including Google Quick Pair, audio switching and a Beats app customized for Android.

The Beats Studio Buds +’s active noise cancellation and pass-through modes, while vastly improved, are still significantly different than the second-generation AirPods Pro, but the new headphones are also nearly $100 cheaper, according to foreign media outlet 9to5Mac.

In addition, the most obvious design change to these headphones is the addition of a new transparent design option that allows you to see the Beats Studio Buds + charging case as well as the inner workings of the headphones themselves.

The Beat Studio Buds+ can be purchased today from Apple’s official website, priced at RMB 1349 for China, and is expected to be delivered on May 20 when purchased today.
