Apple announced today that starting July 25th, App Store app prices in Egypt, Nigeria, and several other countries and regions will increase. These changes are due to changes in taxes and foreign exchange rates. and implemented. This is the second price increase for App Store apps this year, the last one being on February 16.
For some apps in Egypt, Nigeria, Tanzania and Turkey, tax changes and other factors will lead to price increases in Apple’s App Store. Apple regularly notifies developers of regional tax changes that will affect their app pricing.
Apps and in-app purchases (excluding auto-renewing subscriptions) in the Egypt, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Turkey stores will be updated on July 25, according to an email Apple sent to developers. If the developer’s base store is in these countries, or if they manually manage price changes, they don’t need to take any action.
Updates to these prices will take into account a number of tax changes, as listed below:
Egypt; introduction of 14% Value Added Tax (VAT);
Tanzania: introduction of 18% value-added tax and 2% digital services tax;
Türkiye: VAT rate increased from 18% to 20%.
According to Apple, if the base store for a developer’s app or in-app purchase is not located in Egypt, Nigeria, Tanzania, or Turkey, the price for those corresponding stores will increase. Price changes do not include auto-renewing subscriptions.
Developers can check the Pricing and Availability section of My Apps in App Store Connect to see upcoming price changes. Consumers outside the affected countries will not notice any changes.
