According to the latest list published by the United States Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple has obtained a design patent for the AirPods earbuds. The biggest highlight is that the charging case is equipped with a touch screen on the front, which can be used to control music playback.
As you can see from the patent design sketch, the AirPods charging case comes with a graphical user interface (GUI) with “previous song,” “pause,” “next song “The patent also mentions the ability to control the display of lyrics.
The patent also shows the use of Apple Music, Apple TV+, Maps, Weather, and Audio Books, among other applications.
