Android 14 new feature will allow users to revoke full-screen permissions for apps

Android 14 is the latest operating system to be released by Google, which will bring some new features and improvements, one of which is to allow users to revoke full-screen permissions for apps. This means that users can prevent some apps from hiding the status bar and navigation bar in full-screen mode, making it easier to check the time, battery and other information, while also preventing apps from pushing full-screen ads to the screen.

Currently, in the Android system, some applications will automatically enter full-screen mode, such as games, video players, readers, and so on. This allows for a larger field of view and better immersion but comes with some inconveniences. For example, when users want to exit full-screen mode, they need to swipe in from the edge of the screen to display the status bar and navigation bar. Sometimes, this operation may not be very sensitive and requires multiple attempts.

Mishaal Rahman found that the new feature of Android 14 will solve this problem, and users can find a menu called “manage full screen intent” in the settings, which lists all apps with full-screen permissions. Users can select any app and turn off the “Allow full screen” switch to revoke the app’s full screen permission.

This feature is a good improvement for those users who don’t like the full-screen mode. It allows users to control their mobile phone interface more freely, and can also prevent some misuse or malware from using the full-screen mode to cheat.

In addition, it is noticed that later this year, Google will stop granting this permission by default to apps that have just been installed for the first time (except for phone dialer apps and alarm clock apps). Any apps installed before upgrading to Android 14 will need to manually revoke this permission.

The official version of Android 14 is expected to be released this fall. In addition to full-screen permission management, it will also bring some other new features and optimizations, such as better privacy protection, smarter notification management, more theme options, and more.
