Android 13 is coming: Samsung releases One UI 5.0 first beta in Europe, America and South Korea

After a long wait, Samsung has now pushed out One UI 5.0 Beta based on Android 13 for eligible Galaxy S22 series users, including Europe, the United States and South Korea, and other Asian versions such as China are expected to open subsequent tests (some sources said that the national Samsung S22 plan was initially scheduled to open One UI 5 on August 22). (Some sources say that the Samsung S22 is scheduled to open One UI 5 Beta on August 22, but we can’t rule out the possibility of delay).

The new One UI 5.0 Beta update brings many useful new features, as well as cosmetic improvements and other changes to the system. One UI 5.0 are what new changes it.

More options for your color palette

You can save space on your home screen by combining multiple widgets of the same size into a single widget. Simply drag a widget to where you want it, and then you can swipe back and forth between widgets and switch widgets.

See who’s calling you at a glance
You can set a different call background for each contact, so you can visually identify who’s calling you with just a glance.

Get only the notifications you allow
When you first open an app, you need to confirm whether you want to receive notifications from that app. So you can loudly say no to apps you don’t want to be bothered by.

Is there an app that sends you frequent notifications? Now you can put app notifications at the top with Notification Settings.

Choose the types of notifications apps can send
You can now individually control whether apps can display pop-up notifications, app icon logos, and lock screen notifications. Allow all types, some or none. It’s up to you.

Stay informed about Today’s reminders
The new “Today” category shows you only what you need to be reminded of today. You can also see reminders for events that happened today at the top of Reminders.

Show and hide completed reminders
You can show or hide completed reminders in any category. Show to see what you have completed, or hide to see what still needs to be done.

Choose the right view for your reminders
Choose Simple View to display more reminders in one screen, or choose a detail view with details such as due dates and recurring conditions.

Set a separate language for each App
Want to use the App in part A and other part B languages at the same time? You can now choose the language you want for each App in Settings.

Edit lock screen wallpaper collections
After selecting a set of images as your lock screen or wallpaper, you can easily add or remove images from it.

Customize the space row of Samsung keyboard
You can choose which function keys and punctuation marks are displayed next to the spaces in the bottom row of the keyboard.

Improved sound and vibration settings
The menu has been redesigned so you can find sound and vibration options more easily. Set your ringtone, change the volume and vibration intensity.

Improved productivity
Extract text from any image or screen (OCR)
When using the Samsung keyboard, browser, gallery, or screenshots, you can quickly extract the text from them and paste the results into a chat window, email, or document without having to type it in manually.

Provide suggestions based on the text in the image
When you take a picture with a phone number or website, or view a similar image in the Gallery, Camera, or other apps, Samsung will suggest actions based on the text in the picture. For example, call the number in the picture or visit the website in the picture.

Perform more actions with connected devices
“The Connected Devices menu has been added to Settings to make it faster and easier to find features that work with other devices like Quick Share, Smart View, and Samsung DeX.

Switch views with gestures
If you swipe inward with two fingers from the left, right, or bottom of the screen, you can switch from a full-screen view to a split-screen one. In addition, if you swipe inward with one finger from any corner of the top of the screen, you can switch from full-screen to pop-up view. Of course, gestures can be turned on or off in the settings.

Quickly open apps via split screen
Simply drag the app from the “recent” screen to the side of the screen where you want to open it.

Use multiple timers at once
You can now start a new timer at will in the Clock App, even if there’s another timer running at the same time.

Better control over calendar event invitees
When you add an event to Google Calendar, you can choose whether to allow invitees to see other people who have been invited to the event, and choose whether they can invite more people.

Enhanced Samsung DeX Taskbar
A search button has been added so that you can more easily find apps to use, and you can right-click on certain apps to quickly access tasks within the app. You can also customize which buttons and apps can appear on your taskbar.

New notification red dots in “DeX”
If you receive any new notifications since the last time you opened the notification panel, Samsung will light up a red dot on the notification button in the taskbar.

Mini Calendar (DeX)
Clicking on the date on the taskbar now opens a small calendar window, thus helping you to quickly access upcoming events without having to open the full calendar App.

Better support for physical keyboards
Samsung keyboard features such as emoji input and text correction are now supported.

“My Files search feature upgrade
You can choose whether to search for all files in the current folder or just files. You can also choose to search just the file name or information within the file, such as text in a document or location information in an image. Once the search is complete, you can sort the results by name, date, size, or file type.

Redesigned digital wellness
The Digital wellness app has been redesigned and optimized for the features you need, such as screen time reporting and app timers, and Sleep mode and Focus mode have been moved to Bixby Routines.

You can now manage sleep mode in Bixby Routines, which lets you do more automatically while you sleep, such as turning on Do Not Disturb or changing other settings.

Choose a mode based on what you’re doing, such as exercising, studying, or working, and then choose what you want your phone to do in each case. For example, don’t disturb when you’re studying and don’t play music when you’re exercising.

A simplified layout makes it easier to find routines in Bixby Routines that work for you.

Quickly check preset events
The currently running event can be displayed at the top of the Bixby Routines screen so you can see what’s happening and make changes if necessary.

More actions and conditions for your routines
When you turn on a certain mode Samsung automatically launches the relevant program for you. For example, open the assistant menu and adjust the left/right sound balance.

New emoji combinations
In the Samsung keyboard, you can use more than 80 additional emoji to create a pair of emoji. In addition to facial expressions, you can now combine emojis based on animals, food, and other objects.

New AR Emoii Stickers
Samsung has provided new stickers for download, so you can find more and more appropriate stickers to express your emotions.

More default emojis for your AR Emoii
When you create a new AR Emoji, 15 emoji packs are created by default, giving you more ways to express yourself.

Transparent backgrounds for AR Emoji stickers
Create stickers with transparent backgrounds so they’re more suitable for posting to social media.

Make videos with two emojis together
Use 2 different emojis to create fun videos that you can share with friends, set as a call background, or display on the lock screen interface. Various dances and poses are included as templates.

In scene and mask mode, you can choose any image from the gallery as the background of your emoji.

Add stickers to your Google Calendar
When you add an event to your Google Calendar, you can now add some stickers to easily identify the event at a glance. After adding a sticker to an event, the sticker will be visible in the calendar and agenda views.

Create stickers from any image
Create reusable stickers from any image in the gallery. Use the lasso tool to select the content of the sticker and then add a decoration or outline.

A help icon appears in Pro and Pro Video modes. Click the icon to get tips and guidance on using various shots, options, and controls.

Samsung has compressed the size of the zoom bar that you need to slide when zooming, so you can easily zoom in or out with one hand.

When you’re using the camera mode in the More menu, a single Back button now takes you back to Photo mode whenever you want.

Automatically add a watermark to the corner of each photo, including the date and time the photo was taken, or the name of your phone model, or other custom information.

Samsung thinks it’s better to take close-ups of food with a telephoto lens.

New story look
Stories automatically created in the Gallery have been improved using an immersive slideshow view. Simply tap or swipe to move between images and videos in the story.

The filter selection menu has been simplified in the Camera, Photo Editor and Video Editor. All filters are placed in one list, so you can always find the filter you need for your picture or video.

Open Bixby faster when you need it most
Faster than ever
You can save Bixby commands on your phone so they don’t require a network connection and work faster.

No need to say “Hi, Bixby” when you answer a call or turn off your alarm/timer
When you have an incoming call, alarm or timer, you don’t have to say “Hi Bixby” to get help from Bixby. Just say keywords like “answer the phone” or “turn off the alarm.

Keep it safe and secure
See your phone’s security status at a glance
A new security dashboard in Settings shows you if your phone has any security issues and helps you fix them quickly.

Get help in an emergency
Quickly press the side button 5 times to call emergency services without taking your phone out of your pocket and without talking.

Emergency contact list
Create an emergency contact list – the people you need to contact in an emergency – that can be used for the emergency contact feature on your watch and phone.

Be alerted before sharing personal information
Samsung asks when you try to share a photo that contains sensitive information (such as credit card, ID card or passport), so you can avoid accidentally sharing private content.

Security and privacy information for websites
A new icon will be added to the Samsung browser address bar to show the security status of the current website. Click on the icon to find out what information the site collects and tracks.

Accessible to everyone
More accessibility options in the Quick Panel
You can add high-contrast fonts, color inversions, color adjustments, and color filters to the Quick Panel for easy access.

Magnifying Glass Optimization
Open the Magnifier shortcut in the Accessibility settings for quick access to the Magnifier feature. The Magnifier uses your phone’s camera to zoom in on real-world items so you can take a closer look or make them easier to read.

Voice Assistance Optimization
Choose from a variety of types of voice feedback to help you use your phone when you can’t see the screen. You can have your phone read out keyboard input so you can be sure you’re typing the right letters, use Bixby Vision to identify nearby objects and tell you what they are, and turn on descriptions that explain what’s happening in a video (for supported videos only).

Improved support for Braille display
TalkBack now provides native support for Braille displays without the need to install additional applications.

Your Braille display will work with most of your phone’s features, including the initial setup process.

English, Spanish, Arabic and Polish are supported.

Easily edit “Accessibility” button
Tap and hold the Accessibility button to quickly set the desired function of the button.

New actions available for Corner operations
When you move your mouse to a corner of the screen, you can now click and hold, drag and drop, drag and drop, and go to the top or bottom of the screen.

New notification layout
The app icons are larger so more you can more easily see which app made a notification. Text alignment has also been improved so it’s easier to read.

Screen incoming calls before answering them
Make incoming calls automatically answer by asking the reason for the call. If you can’t or don’t want to talk, you can tap or type a text and Samsung will read it to the caller.

Drag and drop bookmarks between folders
Organize your Samsung Internet bookmarks by dragging and dropping them between folders.
