AMD in late September last year debuted the sharp 7000 series processor and supported the B650, X670 series motherboard, but sales have been lukewarm, one of the factors is the new motherboard is too expensive. Previously, AMD intends to learn from its mistakes and launch the A620 cheap motherboard with PCIe 5.0 cut as a way to boost sales.
And according to the latest HKEPC report, AMD A620 motherboards are expected to come in two versions, first with a Promontory 21 chip version, followed by a Promontory 22 (PROM22) chip version, though both are likely to offer the same features.
AMD A620 motherboards have been featured in EEC filings this month, but so far there’s no information on when such models will be available. These motherboards may cut PCIe 5.0 and do not support overclocking.
From the product names registered in the EEC file, Gigabyte as well as the AORUS brand will launch B560M DS3H PLUS, B760M K, B650M K, A620M D3H, A620M DS3H, A620M S2H, A620M H, A620M K, A520M K V2 and many other products, but the specific parameters are not yet known.
