The former has a maximum of 8-core Zen4 CPU + 12CU RDNA3 core display, 15-35W+ power consumption, and the latter has a maximum of 2 Zen4 + 4 Zen4C CPU, up to 4CU RNDA3 core display, 15-28W power consumption. Previous news said that the 128-core EPYC Bergamo will use Zen4C, a high-density multi-threaded architecture customized by AMD for cloud-native applications. Zen4C may be AMD’s small core.
In terms of naming, the R7 7840U is an 8-core Zen4 + 12CU core display, and the R7 7740U is a 2 Zen4 + 4 Zen4C + 4CU core display.
AMD will hold a CES conference on the 5th of next month, at which time the lineup of the Ryzen 7000 series mobile processors will be announced.
