AMD launches official GPU gaming benchmark comparison tool, Easy guide to buying graphics cards

0

To help gamers understand the gaming performance of each class of graphics card and exactly which competing products they are benchmarked against, AMD launched an official “GPU Benchmark Comparison Tool” on Wednesday. Clearly, the company wants to further simplify the graphics card shopping experience for gamers. But for now, the comparison options are relatively limited, covering only its own Radeon RX 6000 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series. It is believed that with the full listing of Intel’s Razor (Arc) solo graphics, the tool will be updated in time.

The official description states.
“We want consumers to be able to pick the best gaming graphics card for their individual needs and recommend this GPU Comparison Tool to compare the performance of the Radeon RX 6000 Series across games/settings.

To make it even more transparent, the tool also provides comparison information with the Nvidia RTX 30 series cards, with all performance data generated and verified by AMD’s internal lab tests.”

It’s hard to avoid the suspicion of “selling yourself short” — for example, in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Hall of Souls, the A-card usually has a slight advantage (the difference is more pronounced at lower resolutions).

But after looking at a few games in a side-by-side comparison, we think the GPU Comparison Tool is relatively objective — for example, the RTX 30 series completely dominates (as expected) when playing Deathloop at 4K resolution.

It’s worth noting that AMD’s official GPU gaming benchmark comparison tool also offers the option to measure the price/performance of graphics cards based on “frame rate per unit price” (FPS / $), which is primarily quoted here from graphics card quotes on Newegg.com.

Finally, AMD lists the hardware combinations for the benchmarking platform at the bottom of the data. For example, the RX 6700 / RTX 3060 Ti and above cards were paired with a Raidon R9-5900X processor and the Raidon R5-5600X processor was used in other configurations.
