AMD today announced the 7040U series of processors on its website, including four models such as the R7 7840U, up to 8-core CPU + 12CU core graphics specifications.
- R7 7840U: 8C16T 5.1GHz + 12CU 2.7GHz
- R5 7640U: 6C12T 4.9 GHz + 8CU 2.6GHz
- R5 7540U: 6C12T 4.9 GHz + 4CU 2.5GHz
- R3 7440U: 4C8T 4.7GHz + 4CU 2.5GHz
In terms of parameters, R7 7840U and R7 7840HS are basically the same, but R5 7640U has a 0.1GHz lower maximum frequency than R5 7640HS. The R5 7540U CPU part is the same as R5 7640U, but the core graphics is at the level of R3 7440U. R3 7440U becomes AMD’s latest quad-core small steel gun, with a frequency of up to 4.7GHz.
AMD has now confirmed that devices equipped with the Rex 7040HS series processors will be available in a few weeks. Products with the Rex 7040U series processors may be available a little later. A few days ago, AYANEO announced that its R7 7840U handheld would be released in May and available in mid-June.
