AMD and Nvidia Graphics cards released in 2020 have returned to their original prices

Graphics card prices have been moving rapidly lower over the past 3 months and have mostly returned to the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) levels. This trend will be even more pronounced when you consider that the Ether merger is expected to launch on September 15.

3DCenter statistics show that the batch of graphics cards launched by NVIDIA and AMD two years ago has finally returned to MSRP or even lower, with the RX6800 series, RTX 3080/3070/3060Ti, which are no longer the hard-to-find cards they once were.

Of course, not all graphics card models are down to MSRP levels, currently the core 2020 lineup including the AMD Radeon RX 6800XT / RX 6800 as well as the NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 10 GB are already close to MSRP levels.

At present, it seems that AMD, NVIDIA and retailers are not in a hurry to cut prices. After all, it has been nearly two years since the release time, and both AMD and NVIDIA will soon launch some new generation flagship cards, so these High-end and mid-range cards are expected to coexist for a long time.

3DCenter reports that prices for the aforementioned core product line have dropped below the MSRP (97% to be exact), but that price is still a bit higher than each brand’s entire lineup combined, as shown in the chart below:

According to reports, the AMD Radeon RX 6800XT is now priced at 759 euros, while the RX 6800 is priced at 639 euros.

For NVIDIA products, the price cuts are even lower. The RTX 3080 10GB is priced at 675 euros, while the RTX 3070 is priced at 579 euros. The only card across the line above the MSRP is the RTX 3060 Ti, which costs €474.

Analysts believe that “2022 core cards” prices are falling more slowly than most people think, especially flagship cards and low-end models, although the former will soon be replaced by the RTX 40 and RX 7000 series, while the low-end cards will also cool down rapidly with the release of the new architecture, the mid-range cards that are hopeless for short-term updates are still struggling to support.

Nvidia will show its skills at GTC 2022 this month when you will see the next generation of Ada Lovelace series GPU products. According to previous revelations, there is a high probability that the RTX 4090 will go first, and in the most optimistic case, the RTX 4080 and 4070 will be released at the same time.
