AMD 5nm graphics card leak: 525W power supply + 24GB memory

In a few days, NVIDIA will release the RTX 40 series graphics cards at the GTC special event. The first launch is almost certain to be the flagship card such as the RTX 4090. The TGP power consumption can reach up to 660W, and the performance is also very strong. Forget the RX 7000 graphics card on AMD’s side, which is also a major upgrade in architecture and technology.

The IgorsLab website today exposed the PCB of the RX 7000 flagship RX 7900 XT graphics card. Although it is not a real card but a schematic diagram, they said that it was made based on the actual graphics card and drawings, not PS, but believe it or not. everyone.

First of all, let’s look at the power supply. There are three 8-pin power connectors in the upper right corner. The 12-pin connector dedicated to PCIe 5.0 is not used. Coupled with the 75W power supply of the PCIe slot, the power supply capacity of the RX 7900 XT can reach 525W.

Note that this is the maximum power supply capacity of the PCB, which does not mean that the power consumption of the graphics card is 525W, but the actual power consumption must not be low. Like NVIDIA’s RTX 40 graphics card, it also follows the route of high frequency and high power consumption = high performance.

Returning to the core position, you can see that it is composed of 1 GPU core + 6 IO master control cores, which is also in line with the previous rumor that the Navi 31 core is packaged with a small chip, the big one is the GCD computing core, and the surrounding 6 A small core is MCD, which is responsible for managing IO, video memory master and the like.

The 12 small things around the core are video memory. The RX 7900 XT is expected to be equipped with 24GB video memory, 384bit bit width, and 96MB unlimited cache. Compared with the current RX 6000, it is also reduced. This is caused by different strategies of AMD. Unlimited cache capacity is not necessarily the best solution.

As for the GCD core, it was rumored earlier that the Navi 31 core can reach 15,000 cores, but like NVIDIA, AMD is also full of blood. , previously broke the news that the performance will be improved by 100-200%.

Of course, the final specifications and performance of the RX 79000 XT graphics card have to wait for AMD to announce. If you just look at the current specifications, the RTX 4090 may not be as easy as the last RTX 30 against the RX 6000.
