Akio Toyoda questions full electrification: whether it should be desperate to pursue electric vehicles

Toyota Motor Corporation President Akio Toyoda said that he is one of the silent majority in the auto industry who questions whether it should only pursue electric vehicles.

With so many automakers investing heavily in electric vehicles right now, the transition to the EV era appears to be a certainty. But during a visit to Thailand, Toyoda appeared to lament the industry’s focus on the future of electric vehicles.

“The participants in the auto industry are basically the silent majority.” Akio Toyoda told reporters: “These most people are thinking, is it really okay to go all-in on electric vehicles? But they feel that this is the general trend, so Can’t say it out loud.”

Established automakers like General Motors and Honda have set goals for the full electrification of their vehicles, but Toyota has chosen to pursue a variety of vehicles, including hydrogen-powered vehicles and hybrids. Toyota has no Give timeline for the transition to full electrification.

Toyota’s president’s skepticism about electric vehicles has raised concerns among investors and consumers that the established automaker may be lagging behind in the development of electric vehicles. In key markets such as the United States, Toyota has been significantly slower than its rivals in rolling out all-electric models.
