After two years, Koss and Apple end AirPods patent infringement dispute

In July 2020, headphone and audio accessory maker Koss accused Apple of infringing on five of its wireless headphone patents, citing AirPods, AirPods Pro and wireless Beats by Dre as infringing products. in August, Apple filed a lawsuit against Koss, claiming that Koss’ allegations were not only baseless but also a breach of a confidentiality agreement. According to a new report from Apple Insider, Koss and Apple have ended their dispute, and both sides have filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit in court.

On July 23, Apple and Koss’ legal teams reportedly filed papers in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, stating that the parties have resolved all matters in dispute between them. As a result of their agreement, Apple and Koss said that the claims against the other company should be dismissed.

As part of the settlement, Apple and Koss said they want to cover their own costs, expenses and attorneys’ fees. A proposed order was also provided in the filing for signature by U.S. District Judge Alan D. Albright.
