Porsche recently announced a partnership with Apple, becoming the second electric car manufacturer to officially deploy Apple Maps EV Routing.
Apple first announced support for EV Routing in Apple Maps at its WWDC 2020 developer conference, and revealed that it is working with two car companies, Ford and BMW.
Ford was the first to include the feature in its Mustang Mach-E model, which was introduced last year, but BMW has not announced any moves in this area so far.
Porsche announced the feature in a press release, translated in part as follows:
Every Taycan is equipped with Porsche Charging Planner, which optimizes parking based on the expected state of charge (SOC) on arrival, traffic conditions and your average speed.
Drivers can interact with the vehicle in a variety of ways, including via Apple Maps EV Route, giving them more options when it comes to configuring their trip.When Porsche owners turn on Apple Maps EV Routing and your iPhone is connected to CarPlay in-car, Apple Maps will track their car’s battery level and provide detailed navigation directions for road trips. This includes whether and when you need to stop to recharge. It also shows you an estimate of how much it will cost when you arrive at your destination.
