According to Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, Acer Group founder Chen-Rong Shih said today that Intel’s loss and HP’s layoffs are warning signs that the PC industry is saturated, whether for Intel, HP or Acer, and that it means the industry has reached a process of active transformation.
When talking about how long the industrial transformation will take, Shi Zhenrong analyzed that “Wintel” holds the commanding heights in the PC industry, and its software control is relatively strong, so Microsoft is still very powerful, but Intel can no longer beat the model of AMD plus TSMC, and this is just the beginning In the future, the distance between the two parties will become farther and farther, because the vertical division of labor is the kingly way.
In addition, Shi Zhenrong pointed out that Acer has put some energy into new businesses over the years, so the entire PC is a good foundation because it is large enough.
Financial data show that Acer’s consolidated revenue in 2022 will be NT$275.430 billion (approximately RMB 61.145 billion), a year-on-year decrease of 13.7%. In the fourth quarter, Acer’s consolidated revenue was NT$59.848 billion (approximately RMB 13.286 billion), a decrease of 7.8% quarter-on-quarter and a decrease of 30.8% year-on-year.
