343 Industries recently released a trailer, announcing that the fifth season of the “Halo: Infinite” game “Reckoning” will begin on October 17th.
Sources tell Seasoned Gaming editor-in-chief Ains that a team at 343 Industries is planning a single-player campaign storyline for the next Halo game.
In other words, 343 Studios has already started working on the next “Halo” main game, and sources also revealed that the next “Halo” game will use the Unreal 5 engine instead of its own engine. This is also part of an overall reorganization of 343 Studios.
Of course, “Halo: Infinite” has not been abandoned yet, and 343 still has some employees who continue to update and maintain the game.
It noticed that these messages are consistent with the statement of Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier in early 2023, when he discussed how 343 was hit by Microsoft’s layoffs. Following the departure of studio founder Bonnie Ross, 343 restructured its operations, bringing in Master Chief Collection head Pierre Hintze to take Ross’s place, and plans to build the next generation of Halo titles on Unreal Engine.
Are you asking if I have any news about a new Halo game? The short answer is no concrete information. But I can say that, indeed, they do have a team working on the next Halo. This is part of a restructured effort to develop the next generation of Halo on Unreal Engine.
The next big Halo game is said to be a unique “mashup” project, something like a cross between a battle royale game and a run-and-gun shooter, codenamed Tatanka (possibly a reference to the Lakota word for buffalo ).
The game will be co-developed by Certain Affinity, a studio that already has a lot of experience developing Halo.
