2024 Motorola Moto G / G Power 5G phones launched, starting at $199

The cheap phones launched by Motorola in recent years have been criticized. Their mediocre designs, useless redundant cameras and lackluster functions have turned away users. However, Motorola’s just-announced 2024 Moto G Power 5G and Moto G 5G look pretty good, at least at the specs level.

2024 Moto G Power 5G

First of all, the two phones have finally added NFC functionality (the previous absence was puzzling), and use a textured vegan leather back cover, and even retain the microSD card slot and 3.5mm headphone jack, which are the features of most phone manufacturers. A feature that was abandoned years ago, G Power 5G also supports wireless charging for the first time. In terms of price, Moto G 5G starts at US$199 (Note: currently about 1429 RMB), while Moto G Power 5G is US$299 (currently about 2,147 RMB).

The more expensive Moto G Power has a 6.7-inch 1080p LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 7020 processor and 8GB of memory, it has only two rear cameras: a 50-megapixel main camera (with optical image stabilization) and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera (supports autofocus and also Can be used for macro photography). To its credit, Motorola ditched the low-resolution depth sensor and macro camera.

G Power has a built-in 5000mAh large-capacity battery and supports fast charging up to 30W, but you need to purchase a separate charger to reach that speed. Wireless charging power is up to 15W.

2024 Moto G 5G

The slightly lower-positioned Moto G 5G uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor, paired with 4GB of memory, and has a 6.6-inch 720p LCD display that also supports a 120Hz refresh rate. As for the rear camera, it has a 50-megapixel main camera (and a still slightly tasteless 2-megapixel macro camera), and only supports up to 18W fast charging. Like the G Power, this phone is only “splash-proof” and not dust-proof or waterproof.

Moto G Power 5G will be available first on Cricket Wireless on March 22, with other carriers to follow, and the unlocked version will be available on March 29. Moto G 5G will be the first to be launched on T-Mobile on March 21st, and other operators will release it later. The release date of the unlocked version will not be until May 2nd.
