For many Motorola fans, a major feature of its system is the “close to native” Android experience, but the recently released 2024 Moto G Power phone has a tendency to “smash the brand” .
Foreign technology media The Verge recently published a blog post stating that in the app drawer of the 2024 Moto G Power phone, an application disguised as an “application folder” was found, with various applications pre-installed and promoted.
These “folders” are not regular application folders, but there are three main applications: Shopping, Entertainment and GamesHub. Each application is an application center, corresponding to shopping, entertainment and games respectively. A screenshot of the media as follows:
The application icons legally downloaded by users will appear in the corresponding “folder”. When users open the “folder”, they will see a large number of promoted applications.
After the user cancels the recommended app, the system will replace the “Discover” section, for example, inviting you to “Unlock the power of shopping” in the Shopping app and implanting the purchase of Easter decorations from TJ Maxx the link to.
These apps are all made by a company called Swish, and you can’t opt out of downloading any of them during the setup process.
The pre-installed weather app is filled with ads and more recommended apps, and if you click on the option to remove ads, a pop-up will ask you to pay $4 for 1Weather Pro.
